Musician and Oud player Nina is passionate in playing the electric and acoustic oud.
With her acoustic Oud, she performs classic Arabic music, and with her electric Oud, she gives contemporary Arabic music a funky edge. Because of the way Nina's soft, soothing voice complements her unconventional manner, she is able to mesmerise audiences with her amazing ability to blend the old with the new.
Udu Player Nina only became interested in music relatively recently, but she soon realised that it had always been there, ready to be heard. When Nina was 24 years old, she travelled to Egypt to view the Pyramids and Cairo's Arabic Music Institute, which is housed in the most exquisite structure.
She inquired about the possibilities of studying there after being moved by the location's atmosphere and architecture. She ultimately decided to join practically right away and didn't return to Sweden for 3 years, arriving back with an oud on her back and a degree in her hand.
Since then, music has become her life, taking her from Egypt to Spain, Greece, and ultimately Dubai. She has never made a big decision about music; instead, it has always "simply occurred."
Although Nina enjoys listening to jazz and Fairouz, she prefers playing simple traditional songs like Sayed Darwish because of their lovely sound and deep lyrics.
